The Monument in memory and honor of the 50.000 Jewish Greeks of Thessaloniki, who met a horrible death in the Nazi death camps, stands at the Eleftherias (Liberty) Square, where it was transferred in 2006. It was unveiled at the intersection of the Alexandrou Papanastasiou and Nea Egnatia streets, by the President of the Republic Mr Konstantinos Stefanopoulos on November 23, 1997. It was designed by the brothers Glid and depicts the seven candled menorah and flames all entangled in a mesh of human bodies.
